CULO (September 2023) is a choreographic study that stands as a lesbian hyper-femme romance. It is a continuation of my previous performance "Mio$mile" in which I deconstruct the presence of the female body in Italian television based on a research on the showgirls Veline appearing for a 30 second dance in the live prime-time show "Striscia la Notizia". CULO tries to imagine a world in which the sexiness of girls - in this case of the Veline - exists far from the gaze of the heterosexual man.
The piece is a composition of a selection of 20 original choreographies performed by the Veline in the TV-show from 1995 to 2023. And unfoldes as a journey throughout three consequential worlds on a mix of tracks from GFOTY's hyperpop album GFOTYBUCKS: The Heterocage, The City of Glitches and To make Love.
I believe that many girls archive traumas in their bodies, which are triggered when we behave in a sexy way, but dance can help us rewrite this story, very deeply into our self-narration. For this reason, CULO is as tender and brutal coming-of-age story as much as it is a lesbian romance.
