Do you know why the "Academy Award of Merit" is called Oscar?


The popular theory is that the nickname "Oscar" was coined by Margaret Herrick, a librarian.
The story goes that when Margaret first saw the statue in 1931, she said that it looked like her uncle Oscar !
She would later become the Executive Director of the Academy until 1971 .
