How is the grapevine grafted using perfected copulation? Grafting is done during the rest period, in early spring. The graft and the rootstock of the same thickness are chosen and cut diagonally at the same angle so that 2 identical sections result as a surface.

The cut is made on the same side of the eye we want to graft. The 2 sections must be perfectly flat so that they stick to each other and there is no free space between them. So far it is called copulation grafting.

Make a small cut in both pieces so that it blends perfectly. Hence the additional name "perfected."

Note: At 10:41 and 10:53 I was wrong. In fact, I meant that we cut at 2 thirds of the base and one third of the top of the section.

After joining the two pieces, insert the tip into the water and then into the melted wax to insulate the grafting area and prevent air from entering.

After removing the eyes from the rootstock, the vines are "forced" to stimulate the entry into the vegetation. By starting the sap, the callus is formed around the sections and in this way their union is made.
