About this video: Making a Minecraft server is the best way to play Minecraft 1.21.1 with your friends. This video is a complete guide on how to make a Minecraft 1.21.1 server. This will allow you to get started playing Minecraft with your friends. We are specifically making a vanilla Minecraft server in 1.21.1. If you want mods or plugins on your server, there are links above on making those servers!

To get started with learning how to make a Minecraft server in 1.21.1, you will need to go to the first link in the description above. That is our complete text guide on how to create a Minecraft 1.21.1 server. On this page, you will find guides on making modded servers and servers with plugins as well.

You will also see a “Download Minecraft” button on our server setup guide. Click this to got to the official download page for the Minecraft 1.21.1 server files. When you get to the server download page, click on the “minecraft_server_1.21.1.jar” link and the server.jar will start downloading. This is the file that will allow your Minecraft server to run.

Once you have the server.jar downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop called “Minecraft 1.21.1 Server”. Move the server.jar file into this Minecraft Server folder.

Double-click on the server.jar file, and your Minecraft 1.21.1 server will try to start. However, it won’t start and instead and bunch of files and folders will be generated in your Minecraft 1.21.1 server folder. If you don’t have any files generate, you will need to download Java 21 from the description above. As of Minecraft 1.21, Java 21 is required for Minecraft servers. You may also need to run the Jarfix above to get everything to work.

In your server folder after you double-click the server.jar, there will be an eula.txt file. Open this file with notepad, and if you agree to the EULA, set “eula=false” to “eula=true” and save the file.

Now, when you double-click on the server.jar, your Minecraft server will start in version 1.21.1! A GUI will open with your server’s console, a text box to enter commands on your server, and where you can see players on the server and resources.

You can join your server at this point. To do that, open Minecraft 1.21.1 and join using the IP address “localhost”. When you do, you will right on into your server. However, what if you want to play Minecraft 1.21.1 with your friends using your server?

Well, in order for your friends to join your Minecraft server, you will need to port forward. There is a complete guide on port forwarding for a Minecraft server in the description above. Specifically, you will forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. Your friends will then join using your public IP with Minecraft 1.21.1.

It is worth noting that you will need a decent computer and good internet connection in order to create a Minecraft 1.21.1 as you will be running the server on your computer and internet connection.

At this point, you now know how to make a Minecraft 1.21.1 server. If you have any questions about how to create a Minecraft server in 1.21.1, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
