I tried so hard to not shed tears for this reaction but it came out of left field and the harder I fought the tears the more distressed I got. This isn't one of those songs that has to grow on you.🖐🏼 It's the kind that the more you listen to it, the deeper you fall into it.🕳️ Do you agree?

So for the baby VIPs out there and new GD fans, please listen to it a few times and just pay attention to what happens to you emotionally with each listen. 💔 😭

I had a hard time expressing myself for this reaction. I felt like I had so much to say but the words wouldn't come out and crying made it 10x worse. After giving myself some time to process what the heck happened to me and why I cried so much when I listened to the first line (repeatedly), I came to this conclusion. First, the organ or whatever that instrument was at the beginning (accordian?) sounded so solemn. After listening to it a few more times, it sounds like either old time wedding music or funeral music which sets the stage for what's to come. Second, I have an active imagination (that's why I love music videos, I like to see what concepts they come up with), and so when he sang the following, "I’m the dragon of the creek, but I don’t know anyone but my family", I pictured endless darkness. Then a speck of light appeared in that dark space. The speck grew into this cute little animated baby dragon, but still surrounded by darkness.

Do you know how people say that you come into this world alone and then you die alone? Well, that's exactly what I was thinking subconsciously. I'm not saying that you die alone as in physically alone with no one around you, more like you experience death alone. Your death. Just like you experience your birth alone. So, replace that animated image with KJY and how alone he has felt over the course of his life. Alone from the beginning to end is what killed me inside. I'm not saying that this IS his life, I'm just saying this is how that line made me feel. We all hope he is happy, healthy, well, and of course no longer feeling alone or detached.

I mentioned that it sounds like he's telling his life story but then throws in the title of the song "Divina Commedia", which I remember now is a poem about a man's journey after death. So my interpretation is that this song is about life and death.

Then another part of the song when it was repeating, "Gone, I'm numb", and the musical accompaniment (plus autotune) felt like an echo. Can't have a good echo without an open space and typically with nothing blocking it or absorbing the sound waves. So the theme of EMPTINESS/ALONE comes up again. 😭 The reason why I wanted to point this out is because I don't typically like that low register autotune sound in songs but I love it in this song and it fits in so damn well. It's just done really well and I guess you can say, proper.

I could go on and on about this MASTERPIECE but this is the last one, I promise. When he sang, "what face expression should I make....It's a fake mask". That line killed me too because I think it references his struggle with losing himself in his alter ego but not just that. I feel like there were people that hated on him because of this alter ego and they themselves couldn't separate the two. To me, it was clear that GD has a stage persona that he marketed so well because in interviews he was so shy and never tried to steal the spotlight from anyone. He seemed more quiet, reflective, and reserved. People who write such beautiful poetry and love songs usually have a sensitive and tender heart. People thought he was just this punk ass cocky kid who plagiarized, which makes me so mad. Also, he was just a kid when he started. Bunch of bullies.

I can tell that you put in a lot of effort in synchronizing/pairing the clips to match the feel and sound of the song.
