Here we are! Better late than never... Coming back at you with a very special video I've been cooking and seasoning this summer!
On September 14, 2024, it's been exactly 60 years that the Budd R-32 subway cars had entered service!
Retired in January of 2022, these workhorses seamlessly served New York City for almost 6 decades, marking the city so much that three farewell runs were held for their retirement!
To celebrate the R-32's 60th birthday, we will actually go back to September 9 of 1964, when a ceremonial introduction trip for the new R-32 "Brightliners" cars was held, operating from the New York Central Railroad's Mott Haven Yards in the Bronx to Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan along the Park Avenue NYCRR/NHRR main line.

I initially wanted to recreate the whole trip from the Mott Haven Yards, but due to lack of its track maps (and time), I had to start it from 125th Street instead.
To spice things up, I also put the WABCO AA2 horn on the R-32 for fun, since it perfectly fits here!
