During the Mughal era, Babur built a mosque in Ayodhya, later known as Babri Masjid. Foreign travelers, like William Finch, documented the existence of Ayodhya's temples.

British Era
In the British period, Ayodhya's temple-mosque dispute persisted with minor conflicts. Montgomery Martin's report highlighted the remains of the temple.

After Independence
