Santa Fé de Antioquia, known as "The Mother City," has been a Heritage Town since 2010. Its well-preserved colonial architecture, with cobbled streets and monumental churches, makes it an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1960. It is considered the most of the Colony in Antioquia, founded in 1541.
This city, located in the west of Antioquia, was the capital of the department until 1826. Its mountainous environment in the Western Cordillera of the Andes is bathed by the Cauca and Tonusco rivers. Santa Fé de Antioquia is the home of the first Antioquian temple and altar, marking the beginning of parish life and the idiosyncrasy of the department.
Santa Fé de Antioquia is a historical treasure with its colonial architecture, which reflects the time of slavery and the inquisition. Its warm climate and excellent hotel infrastructure make it a popular destination for sun and rest in Antioquia. In addition, it is known as the municipality with the most churches per square meter in Colombia and houses the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, a place of prayer open to the public day and night.
