HOUSTON (KIAH) -- Friends, family, and fellow lawmen will gather at a downtown Houston church to remember the life of a Harris County Sheriff's deputy who was killed in the line of duty.

The funeral for Deputy Fernando Esqueda starts at 10 a.m. Friday at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

A procession leading Esqueda's casket to Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery will take place following the funeral and will travel along the Gulf Freeway to Wayside Drive and then onto Lawndale Street.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez invites the public to line the route to show their support and to attend the funeral.
