Parisians and tourists alike are stocking up on Olympics merchandise for the festive season given that December 25 will be the last Christmas before the Summer Games.
T-shirts and hats, wooden toys, playing cards, plush toys and pins were the most popular items at the Paris 2024 gift shop in central Paris this Thursday (December 21).
While some opted for a snow globe or a funky mug, others have chosen to put a ticket for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games under the Christmas tree.
"We bought tickets for my daughter for the Games in summer. She's 10 years old, she really loves ballet so we got ticket for gymnastics", said customer Nicole Tully.
The mascot, featured on a lot of products and available as a cuddly toy, rucksack or hat, is the star this Christmas.
For some customers, having a memorabilia of the first time Paris will play host to the Olympics 100 years since 1924 was key.
"The Olympics in Paris, it's not going to happen again for a while so it (the gift) will actually be a great souvenir," said Michel Barbaud who bought a sweater for his son.
Five official shops, three of them located in Paris and two located in Lyon have been opened.
