This film was produced as part of Thomas Hengelbrock and the Balthasar Neumann Choir and Ensemble’s artistic residency at the Château de Fontainebleau (2021–2023). In February 2021, despite lockdowns and curfews as a result of the global coronavirus pandemic, the directors of the Château made a large-scale music video project possible by opening their doors to the ensemble’s musicians from all over Europe.

The Balthasar Neumann Ensembles follow a strict health and safety protocol which includes multiple rounds of testing and a quarantine during the project. Because of these precautions, the musicians are permitted to be onstage together without social distancing.
