The blue-winged pitta is a passerine bird in the family Pittidae and Southeast Asia. It forms a superspecies with three other pittas, the Indian pitta, the fairy pitta and the mangrove pitta.

This family of birds nest in oil palm plantations. The nest is on the ground under a pile of palm leaves. Parents bring earthworms to feed their chicks until bigger. Some night a snake comes into the nest and attacked the babies but the mother was unable to help them. And on a heavy rain day the bird's nest collapses.
