Sometimes, our personality traits get squashed or shamed by others and we can lose the very best parts of our true selves.

I was a typical 80's kid and I wanted certain things soooo bad!

Jordache jeans, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, parachute pants, going to concerts, you name it!

My mom used to tell me I had champagne taste on a beer budget. Ouch!
Although she probably meant well, it made me feel ashamed about what I wanted.

Eventually after many disappointments, I shut a part of myself away from the world and stopped wanting the best for myself.

If you grew up in a community or family that was very different from you, then you might not have gotten the support you needed or wanted.
A lack of support or fear of rejection can cause you to deny certain parts of your true self.
