GERMANY: Traffic light coalition under pressure! States demand faster repatriation of rejected asylum seekers!

The black-green governed states of Schleswig-Holstein, North Rhine-Westphalia and the green-black led Baden-Württemberg have called on the federal government to tighten migration policy. They plan to submit corresponding applications to the Bundesrat today. A key concern of the states is that rejected asylum seekers, criminals or refugees for whom other EU countries are responsible can be returned more quickly to their home countries or to responsible EU states. To make this possible, the states are demanding that the traffic light coalition speed up asylum procedures and optimise data exchange between the authorities.
