মোহনীয় রূপে বৈশাখ | Charming Form Of Boishakh | পহেলা বৈশাখ ১৪৩১

Few countries in the world are as fascinating as Bangladesh.
The two-month seasonal cycle begins with Summer.
The first day of Summer is a universal festival for this region.
This is the first day of the year, known as ‘Pohela Boishakh’.
The people of the country celebrate a wonderful festival on this day.
Bengalis take great joy and enthusiasm in celebrating the Bengali New Year festival.

Various activities begin with the first sunrise of New Year.
These include a procession, singing to welcome the New Year, and people enjoying the Boishakh Fair wearing colorful outfits.
The fair showcases traditional Bengali agricultural products, art, folk art products, cottage products, and pottery products.
Besides, there is food, puffed rice, murki, Sandesh, and many other things.
Merry-go-round, puppet shows, circus, Gambhira, Sari & Jarigan, and theatre drama are also available.
Besides, canoe sprints are being organized on big rivers.

According to history, Mughal Emperor Akbar initiated the Bengali Calendar.
He introduced this new calendar to make it easier for farmers to pay their taxes.
He formulated this new calendar on March 10, 1584 AD.
But the year counting started from November 5, 1556 AD, when Emperor Akbar ascended the throne.
Initially, the year was known as the "Fasli Year" but was renamed as Bengali Year over time.

This month is named after the Star of Purpose (Vishakha), but it is commonly known as Boishakh in Bengal.
Boishakh embodies late Spring in nature.
The splendor of Spring amplifies in Boishakh.
The Spring flowers on the trees develop into fruit at this time.
The trees are filled with various delicious fruits like mango, litchi, and jackfruit.

Different species of birds take shelter behind the tree leaves in Summer to escape the heat of the sun.
Boishakh is the breeding season of many birds.
Specifically for Jungle Myna, Tailorbird, Common Myna, Oriental Magpie Robin, and Sparrow.

Many flowers are seen blooming in Boishakh.
Flamboyant, Giant Crape-myrtle, Ashoka, Ironwood Tree, Golden Shower Tree, Pink Shower, Frangipani, Champak, and Cape Jasmine are seen at this time.

The canal becomes almost dry during Boishakh.
Drought occurs in many areas.
While the heat of this month scorches everything, the abrupt nor'wester disrupts the organized nature

The lovely form of Boishakh appears in Bengal at the end of the seasonal cycle.
But it has lost much of its past form and appeal due to climate change.
Perhaps Boishakh will exist only in theory but not in nature if we are unable to save nature.
Thus, our awareness is vital to protect the environment.
