This land extends in a straight line from near Yawatahama Port to the west-southwest along the Japan Median Tectonic Line.
It is about 50 km long, and is separated by the Seto Inland Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south.
To the west is the Bungo Channel, which separates Shikoku from Kyushu. Sadamisaki is the narrowest peninsula in Japan, given its length.
At the tip of the peninsula is Sadamisaki, which is designated as a national park in the Seto Inland Sea.
The Sadamisaki Peninsula is susceptible to seasonal winds from the northwest, as there is no land to block the wind to the northwest.
The wind conditions are good for wind power generation, and wind turbines for generating electricity stand in a forest on the ridgeline, creating a unique landscape.
There are six major wind power plants on the Sadamisaki Peninsula. This is one of them, the Misaki Wind Park Power Plant.
There are nine 1000kW wind turbines here. The wind turbine is about 80m tall and has a diameter of about 60m.
It generates about 50,000MWh of electricity per year, which is enough to power about 14,000 households.
Wind power is classified as a renewable energy source, and there is no need to worry about the energy resource wind drying up.
It is also a clean energy source that does not emit carbon dioxide or harmful substances when generating electricity, so one of its benefits is its small environmental impact.
