Imagine a species that stood shorter than a 10-year-old child, with long arms and curved toes similar to chimpanzees. At the same time, it possessed a head resembling that of intellegent species, enabling it to use tools to hunt large prey like elephants. This species could walk upright like humans but also climb trees with the agility of chimpanzees.
This isn't a fictional species I've invented. In fact, it describes Homo luzonensis, a recently discovered human relative.
