God still speaks and gives each person tasks. Our perceptions greatly affect how we act on His assignments. Sometimes we may only partially complete the job, or we may hide from Him thinking He no longer sees us. In order for His word to be fulfilled, He may allow a storm that not only affects us, but also those around us who are with us in hiding. Instead of putting innocent people at risk, it's better to complete the assignment first and then deal with any difficult situations that may arise.
