Questions about life after death are among the oldest and most profound that have occupied humanity throughout the ages. Since ancient times, people have wondered about their fate after this life and what the future holds. These questions pose deep existential queries, prompting reflection on the meaning of life and death, which may lead some to experience a crisis in religious identity. Consequently, "Al-Watan" launched three awareness campaigns to strengthen national, religious, and social identities under the slogan, "A Healthy, Safe Society… Starting with Awareness, Built through Development, and Aiming for Progress." The initiative seeks to maintain social cohesion and strengthen family bonds.

What is the difference between the "self" and the "soul"?
In his show "Science and Faith," Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud addressed this existential question, discussing life after death and revealing some insights into the intermediate state, known as "Barzakh." He pointed out that science has raised questions about Kirlian photography, a discovery of a halo that surrounds any living entity (humans, plants, or animals) in an invisible layer that radiates electromagnetic waves. Many have often confused the terms "self" and "soul," but the Qur'an clarifies this distinction. The soul, attributed to God, is mentioned in the verse: "Then I fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit; fall down prostrating yourselves unto him." In contrast, the "self" is attributed to the individual, as in the verse: "Out of envy from their own selves."
