In today's video, we have a care guide and species profile on the Oscar cichlid (Astronotus ocellatus). Oscar fish are one the most personable cichlids in the aquarium hobby, and they can be a pleasure to keep as long as you consider tank size and tank mates for the Oscar.

Since they get so large, you'll want a sizable tank and powerful filtration, as the Oscar gets huge and grows quickly. For tank mates, the Oscar can go with a wide range of similarly sized fish due to their semi aggressive nature; however, anything small might be eaten.
