In this clip from his recent interview on The Humourology Podcast, well-known political columnist and Associate Editor of the Daily Mirror, Kevin Maguire outlines with host Paul Boross his views on whether (and when) humour can be an antidote to populism.

“As long as you get the right target… you can win people over with a bit of humour and show the absurdity of their views without ramming it too hard down their throat; because no-one likes to be called stupid.”

Offering a unique, politically flavoured perspective, Kevin recalls the example of former MP Dennis Skinner and how his carefully nuanced epithets would often raise a laugh (or two!)
