Judit Pogány, a recipient of the Kossuth and Jászai Mari Awards, is a distinguished artist and an honorary member of the Society of Immortals. Since December of last year, she has also been named a "National Actress." She experienced her first heyday at the Kaposvár Theater, and shortly after beginning her acting career, she proved that sometimes the boldest dreams can come true, and that extraordinary talent can prevail even without official recognition. She evolved from playing naïve roles to becoming a heroine, portraying characters from a worn-out grand dame to a vulnerable commoner, and even transforming into a lovable elderly lady. We can be sure that if the great Italian director Fellini had known her, she would have been one of his favorite characters.

Pogány Judit’s life, after a happy childhood, took a turn for the worse with a turbulent and miserable continuation, followed by decades of triumphs in acting. She delivered numerous remarkable stage performances and unforgettable roles in memorable films, all framed by what seemed like decades of a happy marriage, with a son and angelic grandchildren.

Her life might appear perfect if not for several unexpected and painful turns that her story also took.
