Filmed with the DJI Mavic Pro - Traveling to Boston for Tall Ships 2017, El Galeón Andalucía is a wooden reproduction of a 16th-century Spanish galleon that was part of Spain’s West Indies fleet. Galleons usually had three or four masts, with the two or three forward masts being square-rigged and the aft mast being lateen-rigged. Galleons were built to be ocean-going merchant ships, carrying cargo from Europe to the Americas. When captured by rival states, they were usually put into military service. However, because they were often captured by pirates in the Caribbean, galleons are today synonymous with pirate ships. Galleons were armed; El Galeón Andalucía has ten cannons.
