"The lamb of the vow fetched for the festival grazed the green brought as festoon!
Unaware of being killed, is it satisfying the hunger?
That’s what it was born for, that’s what it asked for.
Will those that kill live forever, Koodalasangama Deva?”
(Translation- Mamta Sagar)
Interpretation:
The song depicts the death, desire and ignorance of the same.
We are ignorant that something catastrophic will happen; always immersed in enjoyment and worldly pleasures searching for happiness. But that doesn't mean we have to be immersed in sadness and depression of death as well. Just like the lamb brought for sacrifice is eating the greens brought for decoration, we are also enjoying the pleasures and glory, with an illusion that these are all for us without knowing that we are being sacrificed in this Maya. In the Cosmic time, our life span is very small, being born everyday and dying everyday. What about the one luring us to all the worldly pleasures? They will also have to have a similar end, no one is spared.
