In this video, I'm reviewing the Camp Chef APEX - a hybrid pellet grill that allows you to smoke meats and experience the convenience of a gas grill - all in one unit.

Camp Chef APEX is a pellet and a gas grill combination. I like to call it a "do all grill" because you can literally do it all - smoke, grill, and even have a little griddle.

You can get the APEX with or without the sidekick attachment. I can't see myself owning a Camp Chef without a sidekick. You can get a couple of different accessories such as a sear box, pizza oven, or my favorite - a griddle.

However, being able to do it all does come with a cost. Camp Chef APEX is not a cheap pit, but its solid construction, amount of smoke, and innovative features make this grill worth the hefty price tag.

The assembly process of the Camp Chef APEX took about 2 hours. The cool thing is that everything came in separate labeled bags so that you know what parts are needed for each step.

The APEX hybrid grill can be connected to your smartphone via WiFi. While I'm not a huge fan of these apps, the Camp Chef mobile application does bring a touch of comfort to the cooking process. For instance, you can adjust the smoke mode on the fly or set an alert to get notified when your food reaches the desired level of doneness.

When it comes to features, the Camp Chef APEX is full of small cool things. For example, a 30 lbs pellet hopper is big enough to do an overnight cook. The controller comes with a small LCD display which is conveniently covered with a lid. And while this grill is pretty heavy, you can easily move the APEX around thanks to the four rotating casters.

Another great little feature of the Camp Chef APEX hybrid grill is a fan mode. You can smoke up some cheese using a smoke tube and a fan mode. Also, Camp Chef APEX may be the only company that offers four probe ports and actually supplies you with four probes.

I've cooked a tremendous amount of food on the APEX over the holidays and the only issue I had with this grill is a little bit of grease dripping on the bottom shelf. Not too bad.

With a total of 811 square inches of cooking space, the Camp Chef APEX Hybrid Pellet Grill is perfect for those who do not have a lot of space but still want to smoke and grill on one pit.
