$115,000 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA OPEN
Town Square Lanes, Riverside, Calif., Jul 5-10, 1985
Dennis Menaces So. California Field

Dennis Jacques figured if he could get past Wayne Webb in the semifinal match of the $115,000 SouthernCalifornia Open he would win his second PBA title in four weeks. He was right.

After edging Webb, 253-248, in an exciting semifinal, Jacques went on to rout top-seeded Amleto Monacelli, 212-146, to claim his third PBA title and $16,000.

Jacques opened the championship game with four strikes, while Monacelli could not find the way to the 1-3 pocket. Monacelli suffered through open frames in the first, fourth and sixth, and failed to strike until the seventh frame. By then, Jacques had the match well at hand.

Webb had a relatively easy time with his first two opponents, routing Bill Straub, 257-148, and eliminating Ted Hannahs, 224-191.
