Che cos'è una township? Come mai il Sudafrica è il Paese con la più alta disuguaglianza economica al mondo? Come si possono aiutare persone in tale difficoltà? Qual è il modo per uscire da questo contesto? Queste sono le domande a cui cerca di rispondere il presente documentario, che mostra una comunità in cui lo sport rappresenta la vita reale e la speranza. Al Lwandle Sports Centre ci sono una palestra, un campo da calcio, un campo da rugby, due campi da netball e un campo da calcetto. È qui che tutta la comunità, soprattutto i bambini, si riunisce per divertirsi, migliorare e sognare. Le scene e le immagini mostrano il calore di persone che hanno così tanta voglia di seguire i propri obiettivi che non permettono a tutte le avversità che incontrano nella vita quotidiana di fermarli. In alcuni tornei, anche 2-3 mila spettatori assistono alle partite, e il livello di talento presente in una comunità così vicina a questo sport è davvero impressionante. La possibilità di entrare nel mondo del professionismo è una delle uniche possibilità di avanzamento sociale e di miglioramento delle loro condizioni di vita. Un aiuto efficace ed effettivo è necessario e possibile, ma non prima di una comprensione reale e completa del fenomeno per intero. Ecco il ruolo di questo lavoro.

What is a township? How come South Africa is the country with the highest economic inequality in the world? How can people in such need be helped? What is a way of getting out from this context? These are the questions that are tried to be answered through this documentary that shows a community where sport represents real life and hope. At the Lwandle Sports Centre, there is a gym, a football field, a rugby field, two netball courts and a five-a-side football pitch. This is where the whole community, especially children, come together, to have fun, improve and dream. Scenes and images show the warmth of people who are so willing to follow their goals that they do not allow all the adversities they face in their daily lives to stop them. At some tournaments, even 2-3 thousand spectators attend the games, and the level of talent present in a community so close to the sport is really high. The possibility of going into the professional world is one of the only possibilities for social advancement and improving their living conditions. An effective help is needed and possible, but first a real and comprehensive understanding of the whole phenomenon is necessary. That is the role of this work.
