What drives the momentum of a golf course, its routing? How can golf be a vehicle for a plot, a movie of sorts? How do architects view finding that balance between challenge and respite? Is caddying for your cousin a waste of time?

Join Christine Fraser for her up close and personal take on what makes Dr. Martin Hawtree, and Tarandowah, so brilliant. In the background, you’ll get a taste of Mike & Pat’s experience during Golf Ontario’s 2022 Public Player Championship, held on Canada’s only Hawtree solo design.

Tarandowah is known for its firm, fast, faux links experience. Situated just over an hour outside of Toronto’s downtown core, it’s also known for value. At 7,067 from the tips, this par 72 is perhaps the closest to a true links experience in Ontario, despite being nowhere near an ocean or linksland dunes. The closing stretch is known to be one of Canada’s best, making this a perfect tournament golf course.

From Christine:
"Hemingway said “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast... So maybe Martin is my moveable feast, as Tarandowah is for a lot of its followers."
