Now that we’ve completed our first coastal sailing passage together, it is time for us to start the next step of our journey and pass Cape Brett in the Bay of Islands to Starboard. We sail down to Great Barrier Island beginning Tāiko’s shakedown cruise to ensure she and her crew are ready for the next step in our big adventure.

In December 2021, we moved aboard our sailboat Te Tāiko, a Chico 40, and we have been fortunate to sail to many of New Zealand’sislands and anchorages. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. Our plan? We try not to make too many plans but plan to do blue water cruising. Whilst sailing New Zealand's northern coastline, we're completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements.
