Back in the days before VHS I had a tape recorder and would record the audio portion of fight broadcasts. I recently unearthed a box of reels and transferred them to digital. Most of the fight recordings I made off the TV can been see today on Youtube and collector’s sites, but there were a few segments that I have not seen anywhere online. I would also scour the radio dial on the night of a given fight to locate round by round reports as they came in. One night was September of 1973 where I recorded reports on the Ali-Norton rematch. Included on the tape is this brief segment about the preliminary, Jerry Quarry vs Tony Doyle III. I know there are Quarry fans like me who can’t get enough, so I’m sharing it here. --Carl
