Washington State producers, who typically farm using a direct seed wheat-fallow rotation, experiment with a more biologically intensive and sustainable management system. These videos explain the research they and the Okanogan Conservation District are conducting integrating cover crops and livestock that hopefully will improve soil health, suppress weeds, and reduce pesticide use.
Interview with Douglas Poole, producer in north-central Washington, on his experience participating in a Western SARE experiment. The experiment involved integrating cover crops and cattle grazing into a dryland small grains farming operation.
