Liz Hawkins, of the Barking Horse Farm, in Puriscal, Costa Rica promotes treks, horseback, through the country that she knows and loves. Well organized yet relaxed and fun, she guides you through the mountains stopping at Costa Rican friends houses for overnight stays and delicious food.

This First Day I got to meet her Volunteers, young people who come to her farm through Helpex, or other Volunteer internet sites, to learn about horses and Costa Rica. She teaches them Parelli principles of horse communication. They stay with her about three months and come from all over - Canada, USA, Germany, Israel, Guiana - wherever. Some stay longer and become Interns. They are pleasant, work hard, intelligent, talented in some field or another, and know how to get along and how to help.
