This video shows how I use a portable aircon with a casement or crank out window (the one not included in the installation manual for the portable aircon) keeping the bug screen in tact, ability to close the window during rain and keeping the cooling efficiency to a maximum. You only need a couple of screws and bracket (usually provided with the aircon) and a Frost King window insulation kit (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/fr.... I shifted to portable aircon from central when I was quoted $5k for a new one.
