In this video we install the JBR Oil Restrictor Bolt and replace the NGK (LTR7IX-11) one step colder spark plugs in the Mazdaspeed 3. A gap of 0.026" - 0.028" is recommended for higher boost, and may be even smaller with very powerful setups. The oil restrictor bolt is intended to restrict the volume of oil to the turbo to prevent it from seeping past the turbo seals and burning up in the exhaust causing excessive smoke and oil consumption. By reducing the volume, it gives the oil a better opportunity to drain back into the oil pan efficiently. This bolt may be a band aid if your engine suffers from high crankcase pressures as it may impede the oil from draining out efficiently. Venting the crankcase is always a good idea anytime more than stock power is being made. Running a 5w40 engine oil instead of 5W30 has been proven to help with smoking turbo's as well in these engines. Enjoy the video! Please like, share, and subscribe :)
