I worked with Synology on the file transfer speed issue and was able to resolve it. If you're on the same network and connect to the BeeStation, it will attempt to connect to the local connection first and if it can't reach it, it'll connect through the QuickConnect Relay. I can't really explain why it couldn't connect in the first place on mine, but regardless, if this is happening to you, it's NOT expected behavior so you might want to reach out to Synology Support. This was my only issue with the device so it's awesome to see that whatever I was running into was a bug and not designed functionality. The device is even better in my head now!
