Speak was originally a book written by Laurie Halse Anderson that was published in 1999. Nobody expected the book to blow up but it did to the point of becoming part of the curriculum at some schools and universities around the US.

In 2004, the novel was adapted into an underrated movie gem starring Kristen Stewart. In 2018 Speak was reborn yet again and turned into a graphic novel. In this video I revisit the story of Speak and talk about its significance and legacy.
