A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Lord's day morning, October 19th 1856.
This day was very hard for Spurgeon to recall. In the evening, so many people gathered in the Surrey Gardens Music Hall, that there was little room to move. During the service several people deliberately cried "Fire!" from different parts of the hall, when there was no fire at all. The stampede that followed led to many injuries and eight deaths.
This incident had a profound effect upon Spurgeon. In later years, he felt that his morning sermon had been almost prophetic. Listening to 35:14ff he said that 'a cloud was falling upon him' as God's servant. If you wish to know more check: http://victoriancalendar.blogspot.com....
Well, the sermon encourages all of us to prove the faithfulness of God in our own lives.
