[I will probably make a slightly updated version of this after the rest of Dark Road comes out (since a few edits I did were influenced by what’s out of DR already), so feedback would be appreciated!]

This compilation was made with newcomers to the series in mind, and is meant to be watched directly after Dream Drop Distance. If anyone is using this compilation to react to this story for the first time, I would appreciate it if you read the following out loud on camera so that everyone gets the proper credit and everyone knows what’s going on.

I changed up the order of quite a few scenes (particularly flashbacks) into what I thought was the best order. Most of the footage is my own, but I do have to give some credit to others:

All gameplay footage, as well as a few cutscenes that I could not capture myself, are from Everglow. You will see his player avatar and a watermark in the corner (except for in some of the gameplay scenes where the aspect ratio was off and it ended up being cropped out, but you can still see his player avatar).

Most places where I switched out the music were suggested by David Russel (aka Green Requiem) in his video “The Music of the Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] Saga”.
I referenced damo279’s cutscene compilation while I was making this, but most of the edits were my own ideas.

First of all, I know the video gets choppy at times, but this is the best I could do if I wanted to get my own footage, which I did.

Alright, since this is intended for newcomers, I have to give the whole usual spiel, so here we go:
Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] was a Japanese-only browser game that has since been discontinued (the final scene in the segment of this video labeled “χ[chi]” never received official localization, and so is a fan translation, courtesy of Everglow). Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] Back Cover is an HD movie released in the 2.8 package that covers the events of χ[chi] from a different perspective. Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ[chi] was a global mobile port of χ[chi], which was then renamed to Kingdom Hearts Union X[cross] once the story moved into official sequel territory. This game is also no longer playable except for a character customizer and theater mode. At the beginning of the game, you choose to join one of five unions: Unicornis, Anguis, Ursus, Leopardus, or Vulpes. Within these unions, you can join a party with other players. In the story, each union is led by a different character wearing an animal mask; there are certain cutscenes that change which of these characters shows up depending on which union you chose, but others where it’s always a specific one of these characters (more on that in a second). The main collectibles which are mentioned in cutscenes are medals, which are what you use to attack, and Lux, which acts as EXP. One scene also mentions “union x[cross]” as something that exists in-universe; that was a mode in the game where you team up with random players in your union and fight a bunch of enemies.

Now, a few notes about my video in particular. I wanted the player character to look basic enough to not be distracting, but not as boring as the default look, so I based his look off of a certain shot in Back Cover (I noticed after recording that this character shows up in a few other shots as well, so just ignore that lol). Rather than giving him my own name, I called him “Kagi” (which just means “key” in Japanese). I chose the union Anguis because its leader wouldn’t have shown up in any of the mobile game cutscenes otherwise (so that way, when she does show up, you know that those cutscenes are the union-specific ones). As for the Disney worlds, I only included scenes that are original, funny, or thematically important to the rest of the story, not any context to the movie itself. The only context you’ll get is your own knowledge of the movie (except in Olympus, which has an original story, but eh it’s not that important to the main story anyway).

Finally, some people may say that the Union X[cross] section of the story should wait until after KH3 and Melody of Memory. I disagree, for the most part (except for the “secret ending” which I have marked in the timestamps; come back to that scene after Melody of Memory). If anyone who already knows the whole story wants to discuss this with me, I have a pinned comment for that below.
