Here are 80 Rock Stars from the Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Prog Rock genre that have died from 1980 to 2024. These iconic rock stars from the 70's & 80's that we grew up listening too contributed to the soundtrack of our lives. In their own way, each of these musicians and artists have left a truly remarkable impression on the World with their art. The Hard Rock & Heavy Metal genre is sometimes ignored by the main stream media with their annual tributes of musicians who have died each year, but not here. Starting in chronological order beginning in 1980, I've listed the name, date of death, age at the time of death and the band or bands each person was mainly associated with.

I've personally seen many of these artist in concert, some multiple times, and I own albums from every single one of them. As you watch this tribute video, I hope that you'll think of the times that you saw these rockers play and the music they provided for us all. Rest in Peace, thanks for the music and memories.
