Rachael is a session cellist who has performed with everyone from London Grammar and Royal Blood to George Michael and Elton John. Rachael is also 16 years in recovery having used alcohol and beta blockers to medicate her crippling performance anxiety. She uses her platform to raise awareness of addiction and recovery in the music industry and is honoured to be a trustee of @musicsupport_uk, the charity that helps those who work in the UK music industry affected by mental ill-health and/or addiction. As part of our discussion, we talk about the charity’s new Family and Friends service that is being developed to provide support to the loved ones (including colleagues) of those struggling with problematic drinking, drug use or other addictions.
