Spanning across 50 years of Indian cinema, a charismatic panel pays tribute to the industry that has brought people together across national, international, linguistic and cultural lines. Writer Sunny Singh's book, A Bollywood State of Mind, is a personal and intellectual account of why Bollywood means so much to people across the globe. Director and author Nasreen Munni Kabir has authored 20 books on Hindi cinema and made over 100 TV programmes for Channel 4, including Lata in Her Own Voice and The Inner/Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan. Author, biographer, and television presenter Yasser Usman is the author of the critically acclaimed book Guru Dutt: An Unfinished Story. Prior to this, he authored a bestselling trilogy exploring different decades of Bollywood through the biographies of superstars. Together, they discuss the ways in which the film industry has been an enduring and beloved cultural ambassador for the Indian nation and the secrets of its boundless and perennial appeal.

Sunny Singh is a writer, academic, and a champion for decolonisation and inclusion across all aspects of society. She is the author of five critically acclaimed books including A Bollywood State of Mind: A Journey into the World’s Biggest Cinema. She is also the founder of the Jhalak Prize.

Nasreen Munni Kabir has written 20 books on Hindi cinema. and made over 100 TV programmes on Indian film for Channel 4 TV (UK), including the series Movie Mahal, and profiles of Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh Bachchan and SRK. Former governor on the British Film Institute board, she continues to curate Channel 4 TV’s annual Indian film season.

Yasser Usman is an award-winning journalist, author and film biographer. His last book was the critically acclaimed bestseller - Guru Dutt-An Unfinished Story. This follows his successful trilogy that explored different decades of Bollywood through the bestselling biographies of iconic stars: Rekha, Sanjay Dutt, and Rajesh Khanna. He is a columnist with Khaleej Times writing a weekly cinema column. He has been a recipient of the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award, Red Ink Award, and News Television Award among many others.
