“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” is a romantic action comedy film based on the graphic novel series ‘Scott Pilgrim’ by Bryan Lee O'Malley. It was directed by Edgar Wright, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. The film was first screened for a select audience at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con and was also shown at the 2010 Fantasia International Film Festival before wide release in North America on August 13, 2010, by Universal Pictures. The ensemble cast includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman and more. Although, “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” was not commercially successful; it received positive reviews from critics, praising its visual style and humor, it’s made several top ten lists, garnered a significant cult following and in 2023 the cast of the film reprised their roles for the well-received Netflix animated series ‘Scott Pilgrim Takes Off’ developed by Bryan Lee O'Malley and BenDavid Grabinski.
