I spent a few days in Amsterdam eating all sorts of Dutch food and exploring the city. It was my first time visiting and I really loved the vibe of the city with the pretty street sand all the canals.

After landing in Amsterdam, the first thing I did was explore the Canal Rings, which are the popular canal streets the central part of the city. The area includes the flower market, shopping streets, and the red light district.

This was also where I tried a lot of the classic Dutch food. I ordered a Dutch veal ragu snack from a vending machine at Febo and got stroopwafels from Van Wonderen. My favorite fries shop was Fabel Friets because the fries are so crunchy and flavorful. We also tried the pickled herring, which was sooo fishy that we took two bites before tossing it away. Later at night, I got dinner at Pesca, which is a seafood restaurant where you order fresh seafood from the fish market. I ordered the smoked oysters, pulpo, scallops, and sea bream, all of which were delicious! Other food I had were the apple pie and bittenballen from Winkel 43. And I also had Surinamese food for the first time!

Over the next few days, I explored different parts of Amsterdam. I visited the Anne Frank museum and saw the secret attic that she hid in during World War II. We took a canal tour that looped around the canal rings. The De Pijp neighborhood was fun to walk around, especially through the Albert Cuyp Market. I also got a chance to take the ferry to Amsterdam Noord and see the NDSM Werf, which is an industrial building converted into cool art exhibits.

On our last day, I went to Zaanse Schans and saw all the windmills! I then visited Haarlem, which is a smaller and less quieter version of Amsterdam, and I liked it a lot!
