Sunbury is a small city in Delaware County, Ohio. Sunbury went from being a village to a city on October 22, 2021. From its beginning in 1816, Sunbury was destined to be a stage coach town. The town's founder Lawrence Myers, built an Inn at the intersection of two major stage coach routes. In 1820, the first coach arrived in Sunbury from Mt. Vernon. One famous stage coach traveler who stopped in Sunbury was Johnny Appleseed. The historic district of Sunbury is anchored by the Town Hall built in 1868. The bronze statue of General Rosecrans sits on his horse Bony (after Bonaparte) in the square and along with one of five largest Glacial Erratics in Ohio which was moved to Sunbury square in 2012.
