A year after his debut in professional football, #Maradona was already a highlight for Argentino Juniors. In 1977 he was summoned for the first time to the #Argentina team. Even with a reasonable performance in the few opportunities, the young Dieguito ended up cut from the final list of the 1978 World Cup, won by Argentina.

After the frustration of not being summoned to the Cup, Maradona would begin to settle in his team the following year, when he was just 18 years old. Here, against Brazil, in 1979, in a classic played at the Maracana stadium.
