From 1983 a Transrapid was tested for the first time on a test track in Germany's Emsland. The train is considered a marvel of German engineering - because it does not run on rails, but rather hovers over a route with the help of magnets. However, the revolutionary technology never went into series production: In September 2006, a serious accident occurred in Lathen with 23 fatalities, shortly afterwards the Transrapid project was finally discontinued. What is left of it today, 15 years later?
