165117 departs from platform 5 with a service to Redhill. This route was opened by the South Eastern Railway in 1855. Steam ended in 1965 with the introduction of the class 206 'Tadpole' units. These were withdrawn in 1979 and the route was transferred to the Western Region which used first generation DMUs. The Networker Turbos replaced these in the 1990s.
