5 Crazy Things That Can Only Happen At The AFCON

The African Cup of Nations, or AFCON as it's popularly called, is easily one of the best tournaments in the world. Even though European club managers absolutely hate it, we cant help but love to see all the craziness that comes with it.

Speaking of craziness, here are a few things we’ve noticed over the years. Maybe, you also have as well.

One very special things about AFCON is how it defies logic sometimes, and some of the best players in the world go there and look pretty ordinary.
Take, for example, Mo Salah. He is no doubt one of the best and fastest players in the world. But when he plays at the AFCON, none of that matters. Not only does he get neutralised, but he also tends to look like a pretty regular player. But the most shocking part is how he also gets outrun by opposition defenders. Yes, that's right. On different occasions, Salah has been beaten in a foot race by relatively unknown defenders. And he's not the only one. In the past, we've seen absolute ballers like Zaha, Drogba and even Samuel Eto’o get to AFCON and look ordinary. And this just shows that the teams at AFCON don't care who you are. It also cements its place as one of the toughest football competitions in the world.
