Maria analyses 'A Century Later' for GCSE English Literature students from the new AQA poetry anthology cluster 'Worlds and Lives'. She explores how Dharker merges imagery of the world of the young soldiers of WWI with the world of children such as Malala Yousafzai walking to school. She also looks at how a world of innocence can be shattered. Central to this poem is the idea that the power of education and use of the imagination cannot be killed by bullets. This video is great to use as an introduction to the poem in the classroom or to support independent learning at home.
