After a failed hunt, Kilo and Dina turn to the village's most revered elders, Maïduco and Abba, for help. These legendary hunters, known for their magical powers, have a reputation that spans generations.

Though Maïduco and Abba can't recall the exact year of their birth, they vividly remember the days when the village relied on their skills to capture giant snakes as tribute to Lamido, the region's powerful lord. In those days, the village offered elephant tusks, lion skins, and snake skins as tribute—traditions that have faded but still echo through the land.

In a symbolic act, Maïduco and Abba divide the giant python. Kilo and Dina receive the prized skin, while the elders keep the flesh, honoring the age-old custom of consuming the snake they conquer.
